The Georgia Supreme Court will arguments in September in a case involving the first test of the state’s revamped Open Meetings Act. The court will hear an appeal of a Forsyth County Court decision allowing a $2 million land deal by the city of Cumming last year.

Roswell resident Nydia Tisdale had argued that the transaction was illegal because the deed recording the sale was filed one day before the City Council voted to approve it. She also argued that the council vote was void anyway because it occurred during a session that violated the Open Meetings Act.

Cumming Mayor H. Ford Gravitt had ordered a camera Tisdale was operating removed from the chambers at the start of that meeting.
