North Georgia is expected to see even more rain on Sunday, setting the tone for a string of soggy days that could last until midweek.
Scattered showers were reported across metro Atlanta on Saturday, but the rain is only expected to intensify for the second half of the weekend, said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.
Meanwhile, more than 50,000 people are expected to attend Music Midtown in Atlanta this weekend, and umbrellas aren’t allowed. A plastic poncho is probably your best bet for staying dry if the skies open up mid-concert, according to Channel 2.
The weather is starting to cool off across metro Atlanta with just four more days until the official start of fall. Sunday’s high is expected to top out at 79 degrees, and there’s a 60% chance of rain, according to the latest forecast.
“You will want to keep that umbrella with you, and take it easy out on the roadways,” Deon said. “Some areas of patchy fog could reduce visibility, and of course we’ll have to watch out for some slick spots as well.”
With rain expected through at least Wednesday, Deon said the weather will remain wet and muggy across Atlanta for the next several days.

The chance of showers increases to 80% on Monday with a high of 78 degrees to kick off the workweek. Tuesday and Wednesday should be pretty wet as well. After that, a cold front is expected to move in, dropping temperatures into the mid-70s for the second half of next week.
Several Midtown roads will remain closed for Atlanta’s annual music festival, including busy 10th Street, which will be shut down between Piedmont and Monroe Drive until late Sunday, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Parking in the area is scarce, so those attending Music Midtown are urged to take MARTA.
Several construction projects could also lead to traffic delays across the city this weekend.
Ongoing work by Atlanta Gas Light will require daily lane closures in the southbound lanes of Piedmont Road. Overnight road closures are also planned along Langford Parkway this weekend, and drivers should expect delays along I-85 North between Midtown and Clairmont Road for a restriping project.
