Forest Park High School was temporarily placed on lockdown Tuesday after two students reported a classmate had a weapon, the school’s principal said.

"The student in question was placed in custody and searched," Principal Derrick Manning stated in a letter on the school's website. "The student was found in possession of a BB pistol."

The name of the student accused of bringing the weapon to school was not released. The school resource officer is handling the matter, Manning said.
