The Georgia chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is urging resident to paint the town purple to help raise awareness about the disease and to fund research.

Alzheimer affects people from 30 to 100 and is currently one of the leading causes of death in the United States.

The chapter wants people to “Go Purple” on Sept. 21 by changing their Facebook and Twitter profile images to purple, wear purple to work or school, decorate common areas with purple or post information about Alzheimer’s disease on social media and at work.

Additionally, registration is open for the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”, which will be held at Atlantic Station on Sept. 29.
