Let’s go University of North Georgia [insert mascot here]!
The new college, which will be formed when Gainesville State College and North Georgia College & State University merge, is hunting for a mascot.
Students, community members and others have until Sept. 4 to complete a survey at: www.gscngcsu.org/consolidated/mascot.
The survey provides 29 choices, from Avengers to Vipers. People can also email their favorite.
The mascot working group will narrow the suggested names to a short list of recommendations and pass it on to the official consolidation committee.
Gainesville State’s current mascot is the “Fighting Geese.” North Georgia has a St. Bernard and students call the teams the “Saints.”
