Lakewood police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an infant who was found abandoned in a yard.

Officers were called at about 1:31 a.m. Monday on a report of a found infant.

The person who found the child was walking past a yard and heard what sounded like an animal in distress.

The person used the flashlight on a phone and found a baby lying in the grass.

The person called 911 and officers responded with West Pierce Fire and Rescue. The child was a little cold, but otherwise in good health with no injuries.

The child was taken to a local hospital and placed into protective custody. Officers canvassed the local area, but were unable to find a parent. Detectives are looking for any information about the child.

The child is a boy, about 3 months old, wearing a green and blue striped onesie with the words “Little Brother” on the front.
