A multi-agency sweep in Clayton County resulted in 25 people being arrested on “deadbeat parent” warrants in Clayton County Saturday.

The operation targeted people with outstanding warrants for child abandonment or child support arrest orders, according to Clayton Sheriff Victor Hill.

He said the operation was conducted with the hope that children might benefit by the payment of fines or purge amounts required prior to release. The ultimate goal, Hill said in a release, was helping the children have a happier holiday season.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, other agencies participating were the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office, the Clayton County Police Department, and the Riverdale Police Department.

There were five other arrests in addition to the 25 Hill said, though the charges were not specified.
