Hundreds of millions of Muslims make a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, but for those who are not able to make the trip, the prayers are now being live streamed.
Video messaging app Snapchat is now live streaming the prayers under #Mecca_live and the hashtag went viral, Time reported.
Tuesday, Snapchat streamed a 300-second, or 5 minute-long, live story of events at the sacred city.
Snapchat combined short video clips into one stream, Al-Jazeera reported.
But while the feature was well-received by many, not all were happy with the coverage.
Some Muslims, Al-Jazeera reported, believe that the time in Mecca should be spent worshipping God.
