UPDATE: Power was returned to Grady High School around 3:00 p.m.

ORIGINAL REPORT: A Georgia Power equipment malfunction in Atlanta has Grady High School and about 1,400 other customers without power, a spokesman said.

The power first went out around 1:05 after a malfunction at Monroe Drive and St. Charles Avenue, the spokesman said. He added that Georgia Power expects to have power back around 3:15 p.m. Grady’s school day ends at 3:30 p.m.

Another outage in the general area of North Atlanta High School was reported around 11 a.m. that may have cut power to the school, the spokesman said. A tree fell in the area, but power has since been restored.
