"I wanted to nominate him for the father of the year award. I mean, that's something," Bill Bayes told KOAT.

Bayes got a message from his home security app, and when he walked outside his Albuquerque home, he noticed a man driving away. Instead of missing a package, Bayes saw a parcel in front of his door, the television station reported. It was a package of medicine that had been stolen the day before.

Initially, Bayes was upset. Then, he saw a handwritten note on the package, KOAT reported.

According to Bayes, the note read, “I caught my son and his friends with your package, so I punished him as I saw necessary and brought back your stuff.

“Sorry again. Sincerely, an upset father.”

Bayes, who is a diabetic, said it was important that he received his medicine in a timely fashion. He told KOAT it was clear the package had not been missing for long.

“It's packed in ice when it comes, so the ice wasn't completely thawed, so they hadn't had it very long, but it’s very important if you're a diabetic,” Bayes told the television station reported.

Bayes is happy to get his medicine back and said he was impressed by the man’s honesty.

"Don't know who he is, but he's a good dad," Bayes told KOAT.
