Congress, take charge, stop Obama
This is a plea for congressional leaders. I am exhausted by this administration stuffing pet projects, from Obamacare to the Iran nuclear treaty, down our throats. Based on polling, none of these are supported by a majority of the voters. Enough already! You have the power of the purse. In your new budget, support the needy but cut the total annual excess. Cut funding for the departments of education and energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, Planned Parenthood and other pet projects which have not helped us. If the president won’t sign the budget and as a result he shuts down the government, so be it! He can restart government funding at any time by simply signing the proposed budget. If he holds up my Social Security checks, fine. It’s time this governing by edict stopped. We can’t wait another year and a half. Please control this madness using the power the Constitution gives you. The voters will love you for it. Please, take charge now!

Education begins at home
Why is it that all the articles written about education avoid addressing what is necessary? (“Ga. grads fall short in skills jobs require,” News, Sept. 13). Does Georgia have a problem with education, yes. As to why, several answers were given in the article and I am sure that they do contribute to the solution, but let’s be honest: The problem with education starts at home with the lack of parental support, guidance and teaching and continues with the lack of making the student responsible for their actions. Marcus Carter says “the problems begin in high school.” I beg to differ. The problem starts at home and continues to deteriorate throughout the school years when we do not hold students accountable for their actions from the start. No matter how good our teachers and school systems are, it all starts at home.

America, step up for Syria
The Syrian refugee crisis is an atrocity. The United States needs to show leadership and kindness by accepting more refugees immediately. Germany is accepting approximately 800,000 refugees and the U.S. is accepting a fraction of that number. We have the means in which to provide more help than we are. It’s time to step it up!

Perhaps Obama connected to Clinton e-mail scandal
How is it possible that President Barack Obama is immune from any connection to Hillary Clinton’s e-mail scandals? Are we to assume that during her tenure as Secretary of State, there were no direct communications between them that indicated usage of a private e-mail? Perhaps she was too elite to abide by the rules that Obama himself established for others in his administration? Or perhaps jeopardizing our national security is not as big a deal as I thought it was.
