Why are Dems the party of open borders?

Democrats might be on to something. If border walls are immoral, then let us establish a North American Union along the lines of the European Union. We can have open borders, massive influx of migrants, culture clash and no-go zones, just like Europe.

Hungary, on the other hand, erected a border wall and has none of these issues to deal with. We have a president who has tried to deal with “demands” of the Democrats and has been rebuffed. Offering to reopen the government as an opening to negotiate border security was answered with “no” by Madame Pelosi. With government and civilian employees being impacted and the president willing to make a deal, it is strange that the party of the working man isn’t? Are they now the party of open borders? Why are the Democrats more concerned about foreigners when their own citizens are working without pay?

Cost of climate change shouldn’t be ignored

Approximately 1,000 experts in business and government surveyed prior to this year’s Davos World Economic Forum concluded the world’s biggest economic risks are extreme weather events, failure of climate change mitigation and adaptation, and natural disasters. Natural disasters and extreme weather caused around $160 billion worth of damage in 2018 – a figure expected to be greater in 2019. Meanwhile, numerous former Federal Reserve chairs, leaders of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and Nobel laureates recently endorsed a gradually rising carbon fee whose proceeds would be distributed to consumers. Such a fee and dividend is proposed in the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. I urge non-economic experts like you and me, the people that will suffer from adverse effects of climate change, to write to our senators and Congressional representatives in strong support of this act.
