A new pint-sized member was sworn into the Chelsea Fire Department Thursday.
Eight-year-old Rylee Sostre's grandmother called the Chelsea Fire Department about a month ago to inquire about a tour for him. Rylee has terminal cancer on his brain stem. The deputy chief said he could do more than a station tour and started planning.
On Thursday, Chelsea Fire picked up Rylee from his home in style - a big red fire engine. Rylee was totally surprised.
The 8-year-old was taken to the station where he was surprised with his own helmet, a station tour and a pizza party.
Then, the city clerk swore him in as firefighter for a day.
