A 15-year-old boy now holds the North Carolina state record for catching a massive blue catfish out of Lake Gaston.

Landon Evans caught the 55-inch long, 117-pound, 8-ounce fish on June 11, according to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The commission confirmed the new record in a news release Tuesday.

It is the third time in six months that the record has been broken.

In December, Zakk Royce, of Murfreesboro, caught a pair of record-setting blue catfish in a 24-hour period, according to the Commission. The first fish, caught on Dec. 20, weighed in at 91 pounds and was 53 inches long. Hours later he caught a 105-pound, 55.75-inch long blue catfish.

Both fish came from Lake Gaston.
