On the curb, she showed us what was left of her belongings, which had been picked over by neighbors.

"A neighbor told me a police officer had been there and that someone put everything outside," she told Action News that day. "I said, 'This is not a garage sale. This is my stuff!'"

But the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Bryant's items were removed because she was squatting. She was arrested during a traffic stop on May 9, and charged with burglary of that same home.

"She is a scammer. She is the one who was trying to scam a lot of people," said Malina Sardarova, the managing broker of INI Realty, the company who represented the homeowner and reported Bryant was living in that home illegally.

Sardarova admits that type of scam exists, but said Bryant had no paperwork to prove she was a victim.

"She came here screaming and crying. She told me she didn't have any record of her rental agreement, and I said, 'No, no, no. That's not how it's done, and you look too smart to do something as stupid as that.'"

According to Bryant's arrest report, she also attempted to set up utilities at 20 different vacant homes before moving into that home.

Action News obtained recordings of those calls from the local utilities company.

Sardarova said her company didn't push police for charges, but believes it was the right move.

"In this situation the justice system really worked," Sardarova said.
