A construction worker in Oregon thought he had taken all of the proper precautions when preparing his work site around a manhole. In addition to using his truck as a barricade, he set up about eight orange cones to warn drivers that repair work was being performed.

Unfortunately for the worker, Travis Roberts, the warnings went unheeded.

Surveillance video caught the dramatic event, when a pickup truck ran right over a cone and hit Roberts. According to KOIN, Roberts is in a lot of pain, suffering from fractured ribs and road rash.

Roberts said that while he’s still in shock over the incident, he’s grateful that he didn’t suffer worse injuries.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office told KOIN that it is unlikely that the driver will be cited for any traffic violations because the incident occurred on private property.

Roberts just wants the incident to remind people to be aware of their surroundings at all times.
