The $10 bill has featured Alexander Hamilton since 1929, but now plans to update the currency include putting an iconic woman on the money.

The new bill will go into circulation in 2020, the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.

"The next generation of currency will revolve around the theme of democracy," according to the The New 10, a U.S. Dept. of Treasury website devoted to the new bill.

The public can use #TheNew10 to offer suggestions for an honoree, designs and symbols of democracy.

The selection will be announced at the end of the year.
