Thursday’s full moon was the last full moon of winter and the smallest full moon of 2015. The smallest full moon of the year occurs when the moon is farthest away from Earth.  It’s sometimes called the micromoon or minimoon. You can see the closest and biggest full moon of the year on Sept. 28, 2015 — the Harvest Moon. (Source: EarthSky.org)
