A popular toy on many wish lists could leave children in tears, some parents complain, when its sticky pieces get stuck in their hair.
Bunchems hit the market in August. The toy is meant to allow children to stick the bristle-filled parts together to create various things.
One mother said pieces of the toy became stuck in the hair of five girls at her home and her daughter's hair had to be cut as a result.
Online reviews backed up the mother’s claim. One reviewer even said, “Buy this toy for someone if you hate them or their child.”
The manufacturer released a statement:
"Bunchems are intended only to be adhered to other Bunchems. The packaging and directions clearly state 'Caution: Keep away from hair. May become entangled.' We recently changed the color of the warning to make it even more identifiable."
After hearing complaints, the company posted a video on YouTube showing how to get the toy unstuck.
The mother whose child had to have her hair cut said the video was not much help.
