In New York City, a controversial police practice will now come complete with a receipt for your troubles.

If you are stopped, frisked, and let go the NYPD must provide you with a new form called the "What is a Stop Slip," complete with a reason why you were detained in the first place.

The controversial policy was aimed at preventing serious crimes. It reached its' peak in 2011, and has since been on the decline.

What remains unclear is whether officers will hand them out, or just stop the policy.
