Tom Hudson and Melody Lauer hit it off the moment they met. Both are Second Amendment supporters and gun enthusiasts.

As the two talked, the idea came up for Melody to lead a class for mothers who wanted to carry their babies and their guns at the same time. Hudson thought it could be a hit.

He was right.

"Shooting sports are evolving into a younger, more professional, more unisex demographic," Hudson, owner of Crossroads Shooting Sports told "Yahoo Parenting." "And one of our target markets is female."

The first class drew more than 10 mothers and a few dads. Now the idea is growing. According to "Yahoo Parenting,"  some of Lauer’s tips include never carrying a gun in bags or leaving them in drawers. She also urges moms to “always use a holster and to understand that simply having a gun won’t make you safer.”

“I will never try to convince someone that they should get a gun," Melody explained.  “But if you feel that a gun is for you, then I will help you do it safely.”

Lauer is not new to guns. Her husband urged her to get her first firearm after he retired from the military and began traveling with his job. She fell in love and has since worked in gun stores and at ranges.
