President Obama is likely unaccustomed to hearing 'no' when requesting tee times at America's golf course, but that's what he did hear ... several times ... when visiting Westchester NY on Labor Day weekend.
NBC New York reports:
The Trump National Golf Club, the Winged Foot and Willow Ridge were among some of the elite courses that rebuffed the president's request to tee off there, according to several sources who were told about the president's advance team's calls to the club managers.
Club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president.
In recent days, Obama has admitted that his persistent golfing may have been bad for his images.
President Obama seemed to take one step forward and two steps back in the admission of wrong-doing department, saying that perhaps his golf game in the near-immediate wake of speaking about beheaded American journalist James Foley wasn't the smartest idea — but then blaming the press. (Wash Times)
Mr. Obama fielded a host of criticism from the American public, including even some of his most politically aligned supporters, for holding a brief vacation-time press conference to speak of Mr. Foley’s beheading at the hands of Islamic State terrorists, and then heading right on to the golf course.
