Sully, the service dog and companion for former President George H.W. Bush, paid tribute to the late president, as well as those who lost their lives defending our nation.

A photo of Sully, posing next to the World War II Memorial featuring President George W. Bush’s name and the year the memorial was dedicated, was featured on the dog’s Instagram page, along with a quote from his former master.

The senior Bush was a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II

Sully, who was named after the hero pilot who landed a passenger plane in the Hudson River, Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, works at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, as a rehabilitation dog, the "Today" show reported.

The dog was given the rank of hospital corpsman second class in February, The Hill reported.

Sully was a constant companion to President H.W. Bush from the time he was assigned to the former commander in chief until the president died last year. One of the lasting memories for some of the president’s funeral was Sully lying in front of the flag-draped casket with the caption “Mission Complete.”
