Bernie Sanders to meet with Obama on Thursday

President Barack Obama plans to meet with Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Thursday, the White House announced in a statement Tuesday night.

Obama called presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Sanders, I-Vt., on Tuesday night to congratulate them on their campaigns, according to the statement

"The President congratulated Secretary Clinton for securing the delegates necessary to clinch the Democratic Nomination for President," the statement said. "Her historic campaign inspired millions and is an extension of her lifelong fight for middle-class families and children."

Obama is expected to endorse Clinton, possibly this week, according to The New York Times.
