The Marietta Police Department will hold two crime information events for the public Monday and next month.
A Zone 3 Town Hall meeting will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the department, 240 Lemon St., Marietta that is "open to all citizens, neighborhood associations and stake holders that represent the City of Marietta in reference to discussing issues concerning Zone 3."
Then the Marietta Police Department's Training Unit will host a free Firearm Safety Seminar from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Marietta City Council Chamber, 205 Lawrence St.
Open to all ages and designed for civilians, this seminar will cover the following topics:
- Firearm/Weapon Safety
- Firearm/Weapon Law
- Recommended Home Defense Weapons
- Civilian Model Stun Guns
- Carry/Use of Pepper Spray
"This program has been developed to educate the citizens on current firearm laws and weapon safety. We want to equip citizens with the knowledge and skills, so they feel confident owning and handling a firearm or weapon if they choose to do so," Lt. Jake King of the Marietta Police Training Unit said.
This seminar is lecture-based only, and citizens are not required to bring anything - especially no firearms or weapons.
