Forget breaking a window or busting down a door. A would-be burglar sawed into a south Fulton County home over the weekend, police said.

A homeowner on Boxelder Drive, near College Park, arrived home early Monday to find a gaping hole in the back of the house and into a downstairs bedroom, according to a police report obtained by the AJC. Nothing inside the home was missing, according to the report.

"Although the hole was large, it was not large enough for a person to fit through," the report states. "It is believed that if given the chance to, suspects would have been successful by making a larger hole."

Fulton County investigators believe the suspect or suspects may have been scared away by the homeowner or a neighbor.

"This home was not randomly selected," Cpl. Kay Lester told the AJC.

Police believe the would-be burglar targeted the home, which has bars on the windows and doors, surveillance cameras and an alarm system.
