A member of the Atlanta Citizen Review Board resigned from his post on Monday, citing personal circumstances as well as concerns over transparency.

In his resignation letter, Maceo Williams Sr. called for a host of changes on the board, including greater interaction between the board and community. Williams has served on the board since 2009. The ACRB is funded by the city and reviews citizen complaints of misconduct against Atlanta’s sworn officers.

The board came under fire by the Atlanta City Council last month for a billboard campaign that advised “Don’t run” from cops. Following criticism by several councilmembers, the billboards were pulled.
