Newly released surveillance video shows suspects in a series of arson fires at a Gwinnett Hispanic market throwing what appear to be Molotov cocktails, officials said.
Throughout the month of May, three separate fires were reported at the La Jalisco Super Carniceria at 472 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Fire investigators have not nailed down a possible motive, but believe each was intentionally set.
"The few tips received thus far have been mostly unsubstantiated," Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in a news release.
Rutledge is hoping, however, that new surveillance video of the most recent fire will lead investigators to the culprits. The footage, captured on May 23, shows a group of "five or more" men enter the building through a rear door that had been boarded up after a previous fire.
"The men are seen in the video igniting and throwing multiple homemade explosive devices, believed to be Molotov cocktails, inside the market," Rutledge said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Gwinnett Fire Investigations Section at 678-518-4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to arrests and convictions.
