The Tyrone Police Department is switching the online platform it uses for alerting the public to major events. Chief Brandon Perkins says the department will now use Nixle instead of Facebook, “because FB wants page owners (like us) to pay to get our message out,” while Nixle “is free to public safety agencies and it will deliver our message to every individual who is signed up.”

To get the new text and email alerts on Nixle, go to www.tyronepd.org/alerts or text TYRONEPD to 888777. Tyrone police will still make periodic posts on Facebook.
