DeKalb County’s Oakhurst neighborhood received 57 new trees this weekend.
Trees Atlanta planted the mixture of shade and flowering trees along Second Avenue and in the Oakhurst Community Garden. The organization also installed some granite markers on Saturday.
Trees Atlanta choose Oakhurst based on the community’s need, said Cheryl Kortemeier, the organizations’ director of development.
“We try to plant trees in barren areas,” she said.
This was the second round of planting for the Decatur neighborhood. In October, Trees Atlanta planted 43 trees in the Oakhurst.
