Today may be one day where it’s better to drive. Track work has caused long delays on MARTA.
MARTA said it scheduled track work for Saturday to minimize the disruption to riders, but advised that delays were expected.
Red Line trains are only operating between North Springs and Lindbergh, which means the service between Lindbergh and Airport Stations will be running at a reduced frequency on about every 20 minutes.
Passengers traveling from North Springs have to transfer to a Gold Line train at Lindbergh Station in order to continue southbound. Passengers traveling northbound from the Airport will need to transfer to a Red Line train at Lindbergh Station to continue to North Springs Station.
At East Point Station, all trains will board on the northbound platform.
Green Line trains will only operate between Bankhead and Ashby, which means that service between Ashby and King Memorial stations is running at a reduced rate.
Riders traveling from Bankhead will need to transfer to a Blue Line train at Ashby Station to continue eastbound and westbound. The Blue Line customers at King Memorial, Georgia State, Five Points and Georgia Dome stations will board trains on the westbound platform.
MARTA has parallel tracks all along its Red, Gold, Blue and Green lines – allowing for one train to run in each direction during normal operations. As individual sections of track are being repaired, trains must share a single track through the affected area. This “single tracking” can result in delays in rail service.
Track work and delays are expected to continue March 26 and 27, April 2 and 3.
