—Keith Law, Braselton
A: Cobb Energy still exists as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cobb EMC. It has no standing board of directors.
Q: Is it legal to remove political signs from city/county property that supporters have posted?
—Michael B. Martin, Marietta
A: Cobb County, for example, treats political signs the same as all other signs. Signs only can be removed by the property owner, and the same applies to county and city property, county spokesman Robert J. Quigley told Q&A on the News in an email. "The only exception would be when a county or city code enforcement officer is made aware of a sign within the public right of way. Those signs are removed by the officer and an effort is made to identify and cite the sign owner for violating the county's sign ordinance," he wrote. Cobb County government does not permit temporary signs, including political signs, on county-owned property. If signs are in the public right of way, such as in front of a business or on a busy road or intersection, only the property owner or the county can remove the sign, Quigley wrote.
