Q&A on the News

Q: In reading about the 9/11 Memorial, I wondered how all of the people who may have been clients, tourists or just people on the street will be remembered. It sounded like those being remembered would be sorted into categories to facilitate the easy finding of their name.

—Martha Hunt, Hoschton

A: Visitors to the World Trade Center complex who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, will have their names inscribed on the bronze parapets surrounding the pools according to the building or area they were visiting, according to www.911memorial.org. Those who worked in or were visiting the North Tower (1 World Trade Center) will be around the North Pool. People who worked in or were visiting the South Tower (2 World Trade Center) and other areas of the WTC complex: WTC buildings 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, the concourse, the plaza, sub-grade and surrounding areas will be around the South Pool. "The names on the Memorial are arranged in a way that reflects the lives of the individuals they represent: their relationships with other victims, the companies they worked for and where they were on 9/11," the website said.
