New item-DeKalb County

Mabel Foster wants something done about a dip in the road.

“There is a sunk-in dip on Commander Drive in Chamblee, between 3888 and 3882, that goes across the road. It has been marked twice, but after several months it is still there. It is now getting deeper, and could become dangerous to people unfamiliar with the street,” she wrote.

We sent the item to the county and will let you know what happens.

Sidney Barr has been working for a while to try to get a manhole fixed at 1649 Ridgewood Drive.

“Across from my driveway, there is an asphalt manhole cover that has crumbled on three corners. Water and Sewage inspected the manhole and said the actual manhole is fine, that it’s the cover that is the problem. Road and Drainage has been out twice; once to write in paint “fix—mh failure” and the second time to outline the manhole in green spray paint and place a cone on top of it,” he wrote.

He said it’s a a safety issue because drivers are now veering toward the sidewalk in an attempt to avoid the caved-in manhole. Being one block from Emory University, this is a heavily traveled road by both cars and pedestrians.

“Unfortunately this particular hole is between two curves as well, making it difficult to see until a driver is right on it,” Barr added.

We sent the item to the county and will keeep you updated on the status of the project.

Fixed!-Atlanta

At the end of November, we told you about a worrisome pothole.

“Last Friday, I hit a super-bad pothole on Howell Mill Road just south of the I-75 intersection. It was in the center lane, not very wide but obviously very deep. I thought the front end of my car was coming off after I hit it. Please check this out,” Jim Hightower said.

We sent the item to the city and learned it was fixed. They even sent us a photo of their job.
