One of the most frequent questions we get is if 18-wheel trucks are still required to use the two far right lanes.
“Also, vehicles hauling materials, furniture, etc., need to have a high fine if items are not properly secured and falls off the vehicle; the public needs to be aware of the higher fines,” a reader wrote.
We got a clarification from the DOT.
"Here's an example: It's a five-lane roadway so trucks would be allowed in the three right lanes. Some sections allow trucks in all lanes, etc. Also, important to note, GDOT is not an enforcement agency so things like citations for violating this regulation would come from GSP," wrote DOT spokesperson Natalie Dale.

Emily Sigman wants something done about a traffic light.
“At the intersection of North Druid Hills, Executive Park Drive and Tullie Road, the traffic light that controls the flow on the Tullie Road side, only lasts about five seconds. Now that Children’s Healthcare has opened one mid-rise set of doctors’ offices and will soon be opening more, that is not enough time to allow traffic from the Tullie Road side to transition to North Druid Hills,” she wrote.
Sigman added the lights for North Druid Hills last about a minute and the lights for Executive Park Drive last about 45-50 seconds.
“Surely something can be done to split the light cycle length more equitably between the two subsidiary roads to ease the congestion on the Tullie Place side, until the CHOA campus is complete and traffic flow is addressed on a larger scale.”
We sent the item to DeKalb County and will keep you updated.
