A pesky water leak is causing consternation for a reader.

“I’m writing because of the difficulty our neighborhood has had in getting a leaky main repaired. The leak is at the intersection of Edinboro Road and Mornington Drive in the Castlewood neighborhood (the zip is 30327). The main has been leaking clear water for weeks now. Up until this point, is has been a nuisance. The intersection where the leak is occurring is a fairly busy one, and it’s at the bottom of steep hill on Edinboro,” wrote Tim Renjilian. He’s concerned that when the leaking water freezes, the intersection will become treacherous to pedestrian and automotive traffic.

“Residents of our neighborhood have been calling for weeks now, trying to get the leak repaired. We’ve been assured that it will be addressed, but nothing has yet happened,” he added.

We forwarded his item on to the city’s water department.

A pothole is causing issues for one of our readers.

“There is an enormous construction-related pothole on Beverly Road, which completely obstructs westbound traffic on this very busy street. The construction was completed three-four weeks ago, when workers replaced water or drainage pipes, however, the resulting hole (approximately four feet by five feet in dimension) completely obstructs westbound traffic,” wrote Mike Gallivan.

He said the road is a highly-trafficked street, and one of the few cut-through streets between Peachtree Street and Piedmont Road, so it needs to be fixed quickly.

” It is just a matter of time before a high-speed accident occurs, due to the fact that westbound traffic must drive into opposing (eastbound) traffic. The location is at 78 Beverly Road.”

We sent the item to the city’s public works department and got a quick response.

“The city of Atlanta Watershed Management is responsible for the construction-related hole on Beverly Road. I have forwarded the information to one of their public information officers so you can get the information you need,” wrote public information officer Antoinette Govan.

New item-Coweta County

We have heard many a complaint about the busy intersection of Ga. Highways 54 and 16 in eastern Coweta County. For years, the intersection was governed by stop signs, but later a blinking red light was added. Still, on workday mornings traffic backs up for almost a mile.

We started researching the issue, and discovered a fix is coming, but not for a while.

In the last two weeks, the Coweta County Commission signed an agreement with the DOT to create a roundabout and light the intersection in 2017. Until then, commuters will still have to take care.
