New item-Riverdale Road
Curtis Ball has an issue with a traffic signal at a busy interstate off ramp.
“Would you please tell the proper jurisdiction that the traffic signal at the off ramp of I-285 West at Riverdale Road is timed incorrectly. The red signal for the ramp traffic holds entirely too long while the green signal for Riverdale Road is basically handling a minute traffic flow compared to what’s backing up on the ramp,” he wrote.
Ball said the situation has been going on over a year and needs to be corrected because cars have started running the light instead of waiting an eternity for it to turn green. We sent the issue to DOT and will let you know what happens.

A business owner wants something done about a drippy hydrant.
In early November, a cracked pipe under East Beechwood Drive in front of Haverty Hollow, the child care facility that I own and operate, led to the city opening the hydrant while repairing the damage.
The reader said the work was completed Nov.5.
“On Nov. 6, we called watershed management to tell them that the hydrant was still dripping water and asked them to come make sure it was completely closed. By Nov. 10, it had an orange cone from the Department of Watershed Management on top and was leaking more water than the week before,” the reader wrote.
During the next few weeks, the reader continued to call the water department to inquire about the leak and was told that it had been reported.
“Around Dec. 10, we were told that the hydrant had been listed as broken and could not be closed, it would need to be repaired or replaced, but they could not give us any idea when that might happen,” the reader added.
We sent the item to city officials and will keep you posted on the outcome.

James Wilson wants something done about backups on a busy Atlanta street.
“When driving on McLendon Avenue to Moreland Avenue, the intersection frequently has long backups due to drivers making a left onto Moreland because the left turn lane only accommodates a couple of vehicles. Because of this sometimes the traffic backs up a couple of blocks and it takes up to four cycles of the light to get through the intersection,” he wrote.
Wilson proposes making the turn lane longer. “The road is wide enough to add at least 60 feet more of turn lane. Another great addition would be a turn signal for the left turn lane,” he added.
We sent the item to the city and will let you know when it’s fixed.
