Fixed! Atlanta
Earlier this month, we told you about a water leak near Turner Field.
“I ride my bike past Turner Field every weekend and there is a water meter leaking a significant amount of water at 55 Capitol Ave SE. It has been leaking at least seven weeks, probably longer. A significant amount of water is flowing out of the meter and running down the street into the storm drain,” wrote Scott Bowdon.
We heard back from Bowdon that the leak had been fixed.
“I felt so good I stopped my bike a block away and moved a mattress box spring out of the roadway that was impeding traffic,” added.

Charles Slick hopes another water issue can be resolved.
“I have a water cut-off valve in front of my house at 231 Peachtree Battle Ave. in Atlanta that has been broken and spewing water since June. I have notified the Atlanta Watershed Management people at least five times and they have yet to repair it. I hope you can help make something happen,” Slick wrote.
We sent the issue to the city and will keep you updated.

A reader suffered a severe injury to her vehicle after encountering one of Atlanta’s potholes.
“Driving to dinner Dec. 5 on Huff Road in the direction of Howell Mill Road, we hit a pothole which destroyed the tire and wheel on our 2012 VW Golf. While changing the tire in the west side parking lot, a security guard told us that she frequently saw motorists with the same problem,” she wrote.
She added the replacement and repair estimate exceeds $850.
“This is apparently a locally well known hazard that the city likely knew about well before our incident and at a minimum should have (been) clearly marked, covered with steel plate or better yet, repaired,” she added.
We sent the issue to the city and will let you know the outcome.
