Pat Morris hopes something can be done about a distressed road in DeKalb County.

“There’s a very nasty sunken strip that runs across the full length of the right side of Clifton Road adjacent to the No. 8 green at Druid Hills Golf Club. It runs to a manhole cover in the middle of the road and It’s getting deeper by the day,” Morris wrote.

He said he will go to the left side of the street to avoid it, and if there’s a car approaching in the opposite lane, he will come to almost a complete stop to cross it.

We notified officials in DeKalb County and will let you know when it’s fixed.

Sue TeStrake is concerned over backup on the byway.

“When a north-bound lane on Briarcliff Road was changed to accommodate a south-bound left turn onto The Byway, we hoped it would alleviate some of the backup on Briarcliff, which it did. We also had some concerns about the safety aspect there, and our concerns remain,” TeStrake wrote.

She said at the time of the reconfiguration, some of the old yellow lines had black paint put on top of them, and this paint has now worn off.

“This intersection is confusing enough for people who go through it daily, but it must be really disconcerting for south-bound strangers who are guessing which lane to be in for their left turn onto The Byway,” she added.

TeStrake said another concern is the danger of turning right from The Byway to go north onto Briarcliff. Many people do not stay in the correct lane to do this, and visibility is obstructed because of overgrowth at that corner lot.

“With northbound traffic speeding on Briarcliff Road, we fear a serious accident will happen there,” she added.

TeStrake wants the intersection re-striped to make the options clearer, along with a “No Turn on Red” sign put on The Byway for the right turns.

We sent the issue to DeKalb County to see if it could be remedied.
