The Suwanee City Council has approved Vanderbilt Homes’ request to develop 12 single-family homes on a 1.92-acre site at Village Grove Drive and Suwanee Dam Road. The council’s approval of the 1,800-square-foot minimum houses require a minimum of 12 on-street parking spaces, as well as 16-foot-wide two-car garages and 19-foot-long driveways at each residence.

In addition, council members denied a rezoning request to allow for a 246-unit multi-family apartment complex on Sawmill Drive in the Suwanee Gateway area. Planning Director Josh Campbell noted concern about placing dense residential units near an existing liquor store and two-extended stay hotels in the area. Suwanee’s land-use plan designates the area for future high-density office development.

A third rezoning request for a 123-lot single-family development along Martin Farm Road was tabled until November.
