The Suwanee City Council adopted a $12,405,320 Fiscal Year 2017 budget at their meeting Tuesday evening. The budget represents a one percent decrease in operating revenues and a one percent increase in operating expenditures as compared to FY 2016. Since property tax revenues are anticipated to increase by 4 percent, the council is proposing maintaining the same millage rate as FY 2016 of 4.93 mills, to be officially adopted in August.

Highlights of the budget include plans to upgrade five part-time positions to full time, as well as the addition of a new events coordinator part-time position to support the events and outreach manager. The city will also add a new equipment operator, eliminate the deputy chief of police position and add two patrol officers.

The city has $314,000 in capital funding plans to add two mowers, park equipment, replace one public works vehicle and three police vehicles, along with one new police vehicle and other police equipment.
