Atlanta police made a quick arrest Thursday following a home invasion robbery near downtown.

The robbery occurred about 3:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Piedmont Avenue.

The victims told officers that they answered a knock on their door and a man pulled a handgun and forced his way into their apartment, according to Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee.

“The suspect made the victims stay in the living room while he took a laptop computer and an iPhone,” Chafee said in an e-mail. “The suspect then left the apartment and the victims called police.”

A short time later, officers located a man who matched the victims’ description of the intruder.

“Several officers attempted to speak with the male but he fled on foot,” Chafee said. “After a brief foot chase, the male was detained.”

Chafee said the victims were able to identify the suspect as the man who robbed them.

“The stolen laptop computer and iPhone were recovered, but the weapon was not found.

Chafee said Antwan Creighton, 41, was charged with obstruction of officers, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, burglary and armed robbery. He said the suspect and victims were not injured during the incident, but an officer sustained minor injuries to his hand and knee while detaining Creighton.
