A speech therapist has been indicted on charges she stole nearly a half-million dollars in Medicaid funds.
A Cobb County grand jury Thursday charged Erika Robinson, owner of Speech Therepeze Inc., with improperly accepting more than $430,000 from the state-federal health care program, according to Lauren Kane, spokeswoman for the Georgia Attorney General’s Office.
The indictment alleges that Robinson, whose company worked with the Georgia Medicaid Program’s Children’s Intervention Services, used unlicensed therapists and billed for services on days that the patients were not treated. Services provided by unlicensed therapists are not reimbursable by Medicaid, Kane said.
According to Kane, Robinson received payments from Georgia Medicaid totaling $438,622 over a two-year period from January 2010 to January 2012.
