In an effort to make sure South Fulton millennials and young professionals “are equipped to head to the polls with confidence,” a candidate forum has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 11 at Cliftondale Church, 4095 Stonewall Tell Road in College Park.

Using a Q&A format, the forum is co-moderated by Jonathan Johnson, Westlake High School salutatorian and Kelly Johnson, a political consultant. Candidates are expected to address how they foresee future policies impacting this key demographic and how they will engage them in the political process once elected.

The form will take place during the District 2 & 3 Council Forum and City Finance Review hosted by Cliftondale Church’s Social Justice Ministry. Questions will be answered by Kevin Grimes, a member of the governor-appointed transition commission, as well as District 2 candidate Carmalitha Gumbs and District 3 candidates Helen Z. Willis and Louis Bell.

According to data on the transition commission’s website, 65 percent of unincorporated South Fulton’s population is age 44 or younger.

Questions can be submitted onsite and in advance of the forum to socialjusticeministries2017@gmail.com and 678-829-2673.
