The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted its biannual Sex Offender verification sweep on Wednesday and arrested seven people.

The purpose of the operation was to visit and confirm residences for the 169 sex offenders residing in Cherokee County. Deputies were assisted by state and local probation officers. Every residence was visited, and deputies verified 135 sex offenders. The remaining sex offenders will be verified over the next two weeks.

Seven people were arrested for offenses including probation violation and drug possession.
