The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a path easement agreement with Georgia Power to allow a Mount Vernon Multipurpose Path to cross five downtown parcels owned by the utility.
Pending approval by the Sandy Springs Legal and Finance Departments, the agreement would allow a 10-foot-wide concrete path with pedestrian lighting.
It would provide access from Mount Vernon Highway to Hilderbrand Road, with “aesthetic enhancements” on three sides of a Georgia Power substation, according to an agenda report to the council by Public Works Director William H. Martin Jr.
“The acquisition of temporary and permanent easement is necessary in order to move forward with letting the project and avoid encroaching on adjacent properties to the east of the proposed path,” Martin said.
No fees are associated with the easement agreement, Martin said.
