The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a millage rate that will remain 4.731 mills, which under the city charter cannot be increased without a referendum.
The millage rate is applied to 40 percent of each $1,000 of property subject to the ad valorem tax by the city. Net taxes levied will increase by 1.27 percent, to $33,872,261 in 2017 from $33,446,854 in 2016, according to the city’s Current 2017 Tax Digest and 5 Year History of Levy.
“Sandy Springs’ millage rate combined with the homestead exemption results in a lower tax burden than most of its neighboring municipalities,” according to a staff report. “By leaving the millage rate the same, we continue to ensure superior, responsive customer service and the high quality of services to the residents of Sandy Springs.”
