The Roswell City Council has recommended 12 projects for funding out of the city’s $473,702 allotment of 2019 Community Development Block Grant funds.
Pending approval of the city’s 2019 Annual Action Plan by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, four of the grants are for city purposes: Public Works, $153,040 to replace the Grove Way waterline; Recreation and Parks, $7,843 for a STAR House summer theater program; and the Housing Authority, $40,500 for repairs to the Myrtle Street Apartments and $15,000 to hire a tenant services coordinator.
Other grant recipients would include North Fulton Community Charities, $76,545 to expand the emergency assistance center on Elkins Road; North Georgia Community Housing Development Corp., $50,000 for a Habitat for Humanity homeowner repair program; HomeStretch Inc., $36,830 to replace roofing and flooring in multi-family housing; and North Fulton Child Development Association, $35,000 for facility and classroom repairs.
Also, Senior Services North Fulton, $20,000 for senior transportation to medical appointments; YMCA, $15,000 for after-school scholarships at Roswell elementary schools; Easter Seals North Georgia, $12,425 for interior renovations at its Roswell education centers; and Drake House Inc., $11,879 for security improvements.
