The Roswell Department of Transportation and its contractors later this month will begin installing a unique new traffic signal on Woodstock Road at North Coleman Road, the city announced.

What makes the signal unique is it won’t be suspended from an overhead span wire or mast arm. Traffic lights instead will be mounted on pedestals about 12 to 16 feet above the ground.

“This particular signal design was chosen to preserve the tree canopy that has been formed over the years by the large specimen trees at this intersection,” the city said.

Intended to improve safety, the project also will add a new pedestrian crosswalk on Woodstock and pedestrian walk/don't walk signals on both Woodstock and North Coleman. The project, estimated to cost $70,000, is to be completed in June, weather permitting. Information: https://bit.ly/3asF7Wq
