Motorists who travel Pine Grove Road in Roswell have a few weeks’ reprieve. The start of a project that at some point will require a 21-day closure of the street has been delayed, the city announced.

The contractor for the culvert replacement job did not have all the materials on hand to start work May 24 as planned, a city spokeswoman said. Work now is to start on or about June 18, with the road closure happening a few weeks into the 120-day project, weather permitting.

The new culvert will be centered on 375 Pine Grove Road and will extend about 150 feet along the road. Nearby property owners will be notified prior to the road closure, and electronic message boards will be posted to alert the public.

Water service to homes in the immediate vicinity also may be interrupted as the contractor removes and installs a sanitary sewer line and replaces a water main, the city said. The contractor will notify homeowners in advance and try to schedule the disruptions for off-peak times.
